It looks like, in response to a DMCA request, Microsoft has removed the Github repo for DeDRM, a plugin for helping people read ebooks they've bought on their chosen ereader.

@neil just to play fair on this one, it's also to remove DRM from borrowed/rented books, such as through an online library (overdrive) or something like kindle unlimited. Don't forget it's still technically illegal and you're playing with fire when tools like this are available. With that said, my book library is huge solely because I use DeDRM in my calibre instance (all from borrower books from sources above).

@neil Since RIAA showed that it was acceptable to use GitHub's (legally mandated) DMCA process for DMCA section 1201...

Any tool like this should probably self-host their code repository at this point...

Can we please kill these anticircumvention laws? Maybe then we won't need tools like DeDRM?
